Wow this is really going to hurt. I hope you are correct and this was just a Google Labs deal that was accidentally pushed live. On first glance I thought it might be a strange (MS-ish) attempt to murder all the other analytics tools out there. But it sounds like any fix would be browser based which makes this an even more stupid idea.

google really needs to build an API layer over search. scraping shit will always break.
